Recent days in Madrid have seen tense developments regarding the future of Dani Carvajal.
After all, the full-back’s situation since returning from injury last month has been anything but straightforward.
Despite returning to the manager’s list early in January, Carvajal was barely given any prominence with the manager preferring Federico Valverde at right-back over taking a risk with the captain.
One month later, the player had featured only in 27 minutes for the club and showed clear signs of dissatisfaction in the team’s game against Valencia, where he saw both Trent Alexander-Arnold and David Jimenez see significant minutes ahead of him.
A resolution reached
The aftermath of the Valencia game was not pretty as Carvajal was seen expressing his frustration to Antonio Pintus after the game, and word soon broke out that the player was set to even leave the club in the summer given his situation under Alvaro Arbeloa.
Now, as relayed by MARCA, Carvajal and Arbeloa have met and talked out the situation in a calm atmosphere, expressing their stances to each other to resolve.

The said conversation took place during Monday morning’s training session, where neither Carvajal nor Arbeloa wished to prolong the rift and thus began discussing the player’s exclusion from the Valencia game.
It served to settle the controversy, clear misunderstandings and look for good relations to continue this season.
While the player expressed his disappointment and frustration at not being given a role despite being fit for a long time, Arbeloa explained to him how he did not wish to take risks with the player’s fitness until he had completely got past the setback.
After all, Carvajal has faced some difficult injuries in recent years.
It remains to be seen if the captain’s role in the team improves after the said discussion, or Arbeloa continues to protect Carvajal for a little longer.
In either case, it is clear that the player will stay and play a part this season but the same cannot be said about the next campaign.
