Anfield faithful frustrated by more dropped points

Boos rang out around me at the full-time whistle.

Frustrations spilled over at Anfield that Liverpool couldn't find a way to turn their numerous chances into a win over Burnley, who are in the bottom three.

One fan told me he had seen this over and over again this season. Four draws in a row in the league and the talk was of dropped points.

Manager Arne Slot agreed with the fans, saying both he and the players shared their frustrations. However, it's also difficult to be too harsh on a side that had 32 shots and found ways to beat Burnley's low block after much talk about their struggles against that set-up.

There was a zip, energy and sharpness going forward. Both full-backs troubled the Burnley defence. Florian Wirtz was at the heart of attack, pulling strings, combining well and was fully deserving of his goal.

Liverpool also limited Burnley in attack – and it took a superb finish with their only shot on target to bring them level.

When Dominik Szoboszlai hit the bar from the penalty spot in the first half – after his team had a host of chances – I wondered if it would be one of those days for Liverpool when nothing came off.

In one sense, it was, and you can chalk it down as that and move on. But in another sense, for the fans all around me, following those recent draws with Leeds and Fulham in particular, it wasn't.

It felt like a worry to them. Their team continues to keep them guessing this season.
