Hansi Flick rewards 20-year-old Barcelona gem with first-team training call

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has once again shown his trust in the club’s young talents, calling up several academy players to first-team training ahead of the crucial Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s training on Tuesday was far from routine, as Flick had to deal with several absences in the squad.

Raphinha continued to train separately from the group, while Pedri, Gavi and Andreas Christensen were all unavailable due to injuries.

With several key players missing, the German coach had to look towards La Masia to ensure the session had enough numbers and intensity.

La Masia players under spotlight

As a result, regular training participants Diego Kochen, Tommy Marques, Jofre Torrents and Juan Hernandez were once again included in the first-team session.

Notably, these youngsters have become familiar faces in senior training under Flick and are gaining valuable experience alongside established stars.

The most notable addition, however, was 20-year-old midfielder Brian Farinas.

The young talent has been a key player for the reserve team this season, delivering consistent performances and establishing himself as one of the standout figures in the squad.

His inclusion in the first-team session is seen as a reward for his strong form and hard work.

While it remains to be seen whether he will make the final squad list for the match against Atletico Madrid, the call-up is already a major step forward in his development.

Big step for Farinas

Barcelona also shared images from the training session, showing Farinas as part of the winning side in one of the drills.

He trained alongside several first-team regulars, including Joao Cancelo, Ronald Araujo, Gerard Martin, Torrents, Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will hold their final training session on Wednesday, where Flick is expected to finalise his plans for the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final.

The clash against Atletico Madrid promises to be a high-intensity encounter, and the German coach will hope his squad, young and experienced, is ready for the challenge.
