Relegation-threatened National League North side Hereford FC have sacked boss Paul Caddis following Tuesday's 3-0 defeat by AFC Telford United.

The result stretched the Bulls' winless run in the league to six matches and left them next to bottom of the table, nine points from safety.

Caddis had been in charge at Edgar Street since the start of the 2023-24 season in the ex-Scotland, Swindon Town and Birmingham City defender's first managerial role.

He steered the club to an 11th-placed finish in his first season before finishing 10th last term, only missing out on the play-offs by a point.

"We would like to thank Paul for his hard work and commitment during his two and a half years as manager," chairman Chris Ammonds said in a statement.

"Our performances in his first two seasons at the helm went a long way to helping to stabilise the club following a very difficult period, and he also played a key role in rebuilding the link between the club and supporters.

"I would also like to personally thank him for the way he has helped me – and the club – deal with some difficult off-field issues this season."

Some of those issues have centred around the lack of home games this season due to poor weather.

The wet winter has led to seven league matches at Edgar Street being postponed leaving the club “desperate” to complete their fixture list before the end of the campaign.

In his final interview as manager after Hereford’s 2-1 defeat at Curzon Ashton at the end of January, Caddis said the season had “not been good enough”, was “unacceptable” and added that fans’ criticism was “well deserved”.

Caddis leaves Edgar Street with the Bulls in 23rd place but with between four and seven games in hand on the teams around them because of the postponements.

The club said an announcement on Caddis' replacement would be made "as soon as possible".
