League One bottom club Port Vale have signed winger Onel Hernandez and midfielder Grant Ward on short-term deals until the end of the season.

Hernandez, 33, and Ward, 31, were free agents after leaving Championship side Charlton Athletic and League Two club Bristol Rovers, respectively.

Cuba international Hernandez, 33, made 210 appearances in seven seasons for Norwich City, which also included loan spells with Middlesbrough and Birmingham, before joining Charlton on a short-term deal last summer.

"It's fantastic to have Onel on board," Brady told the club website. “He’s another player whose experience and quality speaks for itself, and I know he can’t wait to get started here.

Ward came through the Tottenham academy and has made 266 career EFL appearances for Coventry, Rotherham, Ipswich, Blackpool and Rovers whom he left last summer.

Both players have joined up with Vale ahead of Tuesday's EFL Trophy quarter-final against Stockport County.
