Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu scored from the spot in last night’s Serie A showdown against Napoli.
According to the Italian media via L’Interista, the 31-year-old atoned for last season’s blunder.
Hakan Calhanoglu missed his first Serie A penalty in this corresponding fixture last term as Inter and Napoli drew 1-1.
Unfortunately, that miss came back to haunt the Nerazzurri as Antonio Conte’s side beat them to the title by a single point.
However, the Turkish star made no such mistake last night, converting the penalty with confidence and pinpoint precision.
Calhanoglu Makes Amends in Inter Milan 2-2 Napoli Draw
Though his goal didn’t inspire Inter to victory, Calhanoglu returned to the scoresheet for the first time since early December.
Furthermore, he atoned for a missed penalty in Inter’s narrow 1-0 loss to fellow San Siro rivals AC Milan in November.
As a result, he has now scored seven Serie A goals this season, emerging as the division’s most prolific midfielder.
Yet, the skilled playmaker suffered a muscle injury toward the end of the game, forcing Cristian Chivu to take him off.
