Liverpool's behaviour is BIZARRE: Promise to star confirms it

Liverpool have made a promise to one of their stars and it's difficult to fully understand what's going on. The Reds' behaviour seems bizarre.

What exactly is the plan with Federico Chiesa? Liverpool haven’t appeared to have one since they signed him in August 2024 – literally, from the get-go it’s been unclear.

First they played him but then quickly realised he wasn't fully fit. He was never going to be, though, as Chiesa missed pre-season that summer as Juventus looked to sell him.

By the time he found fitness, Liverpool and Arne Slot didn't seem interested. Chiesa didn't feature much at all, even when the Premier League title was all-but wrapped up.

Slot played him for just 108 minutes across that debut campaign. A grand total of six appearances and one start. That couldn't possibly have been the plan.

Everyone expected him to leave in the summer but Chiesa fought to stay. He's still a part of this squad and did start the season in style, scoring twice and assisting another. Despite that, Slot still won't pick him with any regularity and the Italian has just the one start.

Which makes a new report seem all the more bizarre.

Liverpool's promise to Federico Chiesa

Sport Mediaset in Italy claim that Liverpool will not sell Chiesa this winter despite plenty of interest in him from Italian clubs. The Reds can’t afford to lose him with their attacking options limited.

It's a strange stance for at least two reasons. Firstly, it suggests that Liverpool do not have a backup option in mind after failing to sign Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghanian is expected to join Manchester City, despite interest from the Reds.
