Xabi Alonso has finally broken his silence after his dismissal as Real Madrid head coach.
Less than 24 hours after his departure was confirmed, the Spaniard issued a calm and respectful message that reflected both his personality and his understanding of the pressure that comes with managing at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Alonso’s exit came in the immediate aftermath of a painful 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.
Despite arriving last summer on a three-year contract and being viewed as a long-term project, the club’s hierarchy opted for swift action once silverware slipped away.
Why did he leave?
As is often the case at Real Madrid, attention quickly turned to the dressing room dynamics.
Questions were raised about Alonso’s authority and his relationships with key figures in the squad.
The situation reportedly escalated during the Super Cup final celebrations.
Alonso had instructed his players to give Barcelona a guard of honour following the final whistle.

However, Kylian Mbappe was seen intervening and stopping teammates from following through with the gesture.
That moment, combined with recent results and internal unease, is believed to have played a decisive role in the club’s decision to end Alonso’s tenure.
Despite all the noise surrounding his departure, Alonso chose not to address rumours or point fingers.
Instead, he used his farewell message on Instagram to acknowledge the privilege of managing Real Madrid and to thank those who supported him during his brief spell in charge.
“This professional stage concludes, and it has not turned out as we would have liked. Coaching Real Madrid has been an honour and a responsibility,” he wrote.
He then went on to express his appreciation for everyone connected to the club, making it clear that he leaves without resentment.
“I thank the club, the players and above all the fans and Madrid fans for their trust and support. I leave with respect, gratitude, and pride that I did my best,” he added.
